BIGG has
established weather stations in four representative
pasture paddocks throughout the Barossa region. Each
station comprises a sub-surface capacitance probe, an
automatic rain gauge and sensors measuring air
temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind
direction, solar radiation and net radiation. These are
connected to a solar powered telemetry unit that transmits
data every 15 minutes. The weather stations are located at: • Flaxman Valley (phalaris/annual grasses/sub-clover pasture - sandy loam over clay) • Keyneton (annual grasses/sub clover pasture - red loam over clay) • Koonunga (crop pasture rotation - red brown earth) • Moculta (native pasture - shallow clayey red brown earth over lime) |
